Biography[]

Third Age[]

Early Years[]

Ildor Earthhaven was born during the final years of the Great War. His parentage remained unclear at the time as there was reasonable evidence to suggest the father could have been the Witch-king Kareth d'Zarnagon or the Yamatian officer Hiroshi Takamoto. After his mother, Varalia Earthhaven, joined Xerathas d'Zarnagon's Grey Cult, she raised Ildor in Aison's capital Myridia. Ildor spent his days learning magic and archery although his heart yearned to see the world outside the capital's walls. However, he respected his mother's wishes and remained obedient.

Godslayer Era[]

Deceiver's Gambit[]
"If you know all this, why don't you rescue mother? What are you still waiting for? Are you just going to abandon her to her fate?"
"Your mother's important to us for many reasons, young Ildor, and I won't let Alent use her for their own ends. I've already put events in motion which will ensure her safe return, so you needn't worry. Lady Varalia will return to us in time, but until then we'll have to continue the work of the Lord of Emptiness. This includes you too. You may not realize it yet, but you have potential which our Lord, the Godslayer, will put to good use soon."
"Words mean nothing if there's no action to back it up, Lord Xerathas. I can't stand for this idleness while mother's risking her life out there! She taught me--all of us--better than let us simply bide our time behind the safety of walls of stone!"
—Ildor and Xerathas d'Zarnagon

Xerathas informed Ildor of Varalia having disappeared after the Second Battle of Magestar and that she had likely ended up as a prisoner in the Magicracy of Alent considering that some Alentian mages had been in the Magestar during her disappearance. Having turned 13 recently, Ildor sneaked out of Myridia as soon as he could on the back of a cart, unaware that he also had other travelling companions, the mercenary Seria Greaplane and the mage Myria, who had been hired by Xerathas to bring Varalia back.

After some heated discussion, the trio decided to travel together, hoping to use one another's abilities on the journey ahead through dangerous lands. Although curious about the women at first, Ildor quickly grew weary of the way they acted which annoyed him.

Their banter came to an end when they met with Haomos, one of the Prophets, who was hunting for a stray, purple-haired quarter-elf. The Prophet asked the group to be on the lookout for the stray girl and report her whereabouts as quickly as possible in case they saw her. Ildor kept out of sight, not wanting to alert the Cult's authorities that he wasn't in Myridia anymore, but he did eavesdrop on the conversation and wondered what was so special about one escaped convict that had made a Prophet like Haomos hunt for her personally.

After having travelled some more, they came across the stray quarter-elf whom Haomos had mentioned. They tried to catch her but in vain as she slipped through their fingers thanks to her agility.

Dark Tidings[]
"Two days in that blasted forest. Why did you decide to run after that pink-haired fugitive!?"
"I thought I could get a bounty. The cult wasn't that far away."
—Ildor and Seria Greaplane

The group, having lost sight of the quarter-elf fugitive, continued its banter and eventually reached New Molson where they would stop and resupply before continuing their journey to Yamato.

Fourth Age[]

Interim Years[]

After the Catastrophe, Ildor stayed by Unithien's side while growing up as the Clergy of Artemicia established a foothold in the newly risen Kingdom of Zion. He continued his training and became a mercenary, often teaming up with Gabriel Veer as they worked on behalf of Confessor Unithien Earthhaven whom Ildor had met during the Second Great War and had learned that she was his half-sister from his mother's side.

Diplomatic Upheavals[]

Ildor and Gabriel accompanied Unithien and the Artemician retinue to the Imperial City on Empire Day of 20 AC as the clergy payed tribute to the rulers of the demonic Andarian Empire. Gabriel used the opportunity to track down two people from his past who were in his "bucket list" of targets: the former inquisitor Anthony Torquemada who had once tortured Gabriel on behalf of High Cleric Jonathan Ferron of the Church of the Memory of Cardia, and the demon Mallyx who had been a member of the Midnight Circus troupe that had likewise inflicted psychological harm on Gabriel. The pair lured the two targets to Adrian Sardonios's recently opened Verdant club where Ildor locked the door while Gabriel murdered the two criminals after revealing his identity to them. Ildor was complicit in the murder but took no satisfaction from it as he worried that Gabriel's quest for vengeance would end up consuming his soul; he resolved to stay by Gabriel's side to try to steer him towards the light.

Ildor, along with Unithien and the rest of the retinue, witnessed the terrorist Iktomi interrupting the festivities in the Serpent Stadium and kidnapping the war criminal Vitani and inflicting Vanth Gallu with a strange mood-affecting powder. He would later learn how Unithien had attended a clandestine meeting with the secretive Order of the Golden Lake in the labyrinthine catacombs of the Andarian capital and that Unithien had declined the Order's offer to join them in a conspiracy to thwart Andaria's ambitions.

Ildor and Gabriel accompanied Unithien and the Artemicians back to Zion just in time to witness events unfolding on the border between Andaria and Zion. Prince Xaphan L'andariel of Andaria, wishing to investigate Iktomi's boast that Zion might have been responsible for the terrorist attack on the capital, demanded to meet with Queen Desdemona Sarillius of Zion to ascertain if Zion was indeed behind the attack. The meeting between the two armies quickly escalated into bloodshed as Desdemona used Xaphan's aggressive demands as pretext to defend her kingdom from invasion, leading to the Battle of the Border.

Unithien and her escorts were unable to stop the bloodshed and witnessed how Chastity, a member of the Order of the Golden Lake, incapacitated both Desdemona and Xaphan during their duel and took them both through a portal which closed soon after. Ildor could feel his sister's rage, especially once he learned that Unithien had recognized that Chastity had been wearing their mother Varalia's armor, a huge insult to the confessor.

Meetings and Alliances[]

Two weeks after the battle, Ildor and Gabriel acted as Unithien's bodyguards as they attended Princess Alexandra Sarillius who met with Duchess Jahi Gallu of Andaria regarding the kidnapping of the two nations' royals. Although the parley was full of tension, the two kingdoms exchanged "diplomats" as Jahi acquired Alexandra's mentor, the demon, Kareth, and Alexandra acquired Lady Maria Rojas who would help Alexandra with the investigation of the kidnapping.

Shortly after the parley, the confessor's retinue witnessed another meeting as emissaries from the elven Celenia headed by Prince Elrond II Thracia and Lord Faust Maerdrym arrived to help cement an alliance between Zion and Celenia after Alexandra's previous visit to the elven forest. Ildor helped carry the elven nobles' luggage to the manor in Mordecaium where the elves would be staying for the duration of the negotiations.

Ildor took note how friendly the elven prince was towards Unithien but chose not to comment on it. He and Gabriel accompanied Alexandra, Unithien, and other emissaries to the hill of Calvary near Mordecaium to honor the fallen heroes of Zion, including Alexandra's late uncle Mordecai de Ardyn. However, the groundskeeper Recip Erdogan decided to betray the princess and the emissaries and revealed himself as one of the surviving members of the Totenkopfs. Erdogan used necromancy to raise Mordecai as a death knight and killed some elves with the fallen knight's help in an attempt to spill the princess's blood for some dark ritual.

Unithien took it upon herself and Elrond to protect Alexandra and ordered Gabriel and Ildor to provide cover while Erdogan and eventually Mordecai himself gave chase. Erdogan cast a dark spell to awaken a necrophage--a blasphemous cloud of darkness which was an amalgam of many tortured Zionite souls which the necromancer had bound to his service--and tried to attack Alexandra again. Ildor and Gabriel caught Alexandra's party just in time to witness Elrond defeating the necrophage and empowering Unithien to assist Alexandra's First Handmaiden Wynter and the Artemician cleric Zenobia to defeat the treacherous necromancer. Even so, the wounded Erdogan was close to succeeding in his task until Gabriel decapitated him and thus saving Elrond and Alexandra's lives. Ildor and Gabriel oversaw the battle's aftermath as they would look after the wounded elves of Elrond's retinue as well as see to Princess Alexandra's safety.

"You have your mother's temper, I'll give you that, but you need to learn to control your emotions. If you let your heart guide your actions, it'll inevitably lead to ruin."
—Xerathas d'Zarnagon to Ildor

As a teen he was sarcastic, determined, and showed signs of short temper. After maturing, his temper has calmed down significantly, perhaps in due part due to his strict half-sister Unithien's guidance, and he now is remarkably polite and diplomatic, often tempering Gabriel's outbursts of anger.

He is a decent archer and knows some very simple spells of black and light magic variety.

Gabriel Veer[]

Ildor often works with Gabriel, trying to steer the man's gloomy thoughts to brigher topics when possible. He is worried that Gabriel's quest for vengeance will consume the man someday.

Varalia Earthhaven[]

Ildor respected and loved his mother. He even went on a journey to save her because he didn't want to leave her in enemy hands.

Xerathas d'Zarnagon[]

Ildor respected Xerathas as the leader of the Grey Cult but sometimes questioned his methods. His views on Xerathas seem to have soured after the high prophet's disappearance following the Catastrophe.
