The Ecbatana League is a loose confederation of independent townships on the eastern coastline of the central region of the Northern Continent which have allied with the city of Ecbatana initially ruled by Marzban Adrashir in the Fourth Age until he was slain by his ally Yoshitsune Kaen in a duel. Since Adrashir's death, he has been succeeded as ruler by his eldest daughter, Shahbanu Parizade. The league opposes the ambitions of Andaria and Troika to subjugate their confederation and have sought aid from the Astral Fang mercenaries of Onigashima to keep the league's lands independent, eventually even accepting the Troika as unlikely allies. The palace in the capital houses the Eternal Flame of Ecbatana, an ancient relic revered by the humans and elves of the league, and soldiers of the league are made to swear an oath under its light.
History[]
According to Marzban Adrashir, the City of Ecbatana was settled by an offshoot of the Sarquil which had interbred with some Simoe people, and learned to revere the four elements, most importantly Fire. Resenting Sultana Adela al-Saif's unification of the Tronin Desert and the lands east, Ecbatana began preparing for a rebellion, and sent only a token force to aid the other Sarquil in their battles against the Northern Horde of demons during the Second Great War. They justified this using the Clergy of Artemicia's attempts to change the Sarquil way of life, including their own people's reverence for the Eternal Flame.
