Daji Su is a handmaiden who accompanied Grand Duchess Nhrakate d'Zarnagon and Marchioness Kadru Vishahara to Nagashima Fortress after the Battle of Otoineppu in the Third Age. She held a small chest which contained the last surviving Scepter of the Stormborn. She has distinctly golden eyes which seem to hint at her being more than just a simple human handmaiden and is eventually revealed to be a chaotic kitsune, or nogitsune.

After the Catastrophe that ushered in the Fourth Age and the transfer of power from the Grand Duchess to the Tetrarchy of Andaria, Daji Su chose to stay in the new southern demon empire of Ebonia and served under Kadru and Emperor Ozai. She got acquainted with Ozai's court, including the emperor's bastard daughter Isana Ozai who felt she was not as kind as she had hoped Daji to be.

During the civil war started by the Restorationists, Daji was sent to accompany Ebonite forces to locate the Restorationist forces in the northern province, only to be ambushed and seemingly fatally shot by snipers. However, she survived thanks to the efforts of the enigmatic masked monk Charity who offered a chance for Daji to take control of her life if she only followed Charity's lead. Daji ultimately accepted the terms and took on her true kitsune form while helping Charity investigate the desecrated pilgrimate site of Himavanta Forest and the strange malady that had befallen it. They conscripted the foreign adventurer Rote Kaufmann to help investigate the forest, and Daji stalked Rote in fox form, making him mistake her for the guardian spirit of the forest and the Inari Shrine within it. After Rote had defeated the Jinmenju Tree, which had been the source of the malady, and driven off the young kitsune Akateko Kishimojin who had been working for Jinmenju, Daji was able to infiltrate the cleanse shrine in kitsune form to retrieve something magical from it, after which she delivered the contents to Charity. The two of them witnessed Rote and the missing townspeople's triumphant return from the forest and saw him off as they learned that Rote intended to find the other three Inari Shrines in Ebonia to purify them as well.
