The Clergy of Gaea consisted of a bunch of worshippers of Gaea, the Goddess of Earth and Nature. The clerics were tasked with protecting the Land of the Living and keeping nature healthy. It suffered a major blow in the First Age when its patron deity Gaea was slain by Kagetsu I in the War of the Andain, and it lost its high cleric Inari Okami when she was killed by a rogue apprentice on the Isle of Yggdrasil where a branch of the clergy had been tasked with protecting the Yggdrasil World Tree. The clergy never recovered after that and, after losing the Faerfolc who were sealed by Nergal at the end of the War of the Andain, the clergy faded into obscurity as centuries passed.

In the present day druids worldwide still carry on Gaea's teachings and look after nature by listening to the whispers of the Watchers, and the freed Faerfolc act as stewards of Libaterra's forests after the Faerfolc Rampage. Gaea's legacy was also carried on by a remnant of her clergy which reformed itself as the Mad Clergies and attempted to resurrect her in the Third Age.
