The Andain were demigods, meaning that they were the offspring of gods and mortals. They had many abilities that were used for both destruction and protection, and could technically live forever unless they were slain in combat. Many of them fought in the devastating War of the Andain either under Kagetsu Aurelac de Maar Sul or Taliesin.
Each Andain had to discover the Laws of the Andain, a set of cryptic rules dictating their way of life, by themselves, using the powers for good or evil although after Taliesin's rise to power the Andain disappeared into the forests in order to not abuse their power. They eventually came out of finding after the Manster Rebellion when Kagetsu was revived and gathered his old followers under his banner, forcing Taliesin and his loyalists to begin opposing them.
All of the Andain died in the Explosion which ended the Arawn Losstarot War when Kagetsu, Taliesin and their respective Andain forces ended up allying to slay Arawn Losstarot who had grown too powerful for either faction to face alone. Kagetsu ended up betraying everyone in the end, however, by casting a spell which caused the Explosion and severed the link between gods and mortals, allowing mortals a fraction of the godly powers, Innate Abilities, but which also prevented any more Andain from being born into the world. However, some Andain, most notably Leon Alcibiates and Taliesin, were reincarnated into the new world centuries later but only as mere mortals.
In 1017 AE, the goddess Hivena found a loophole in the restrictions imposed on the coupling between gods and mortals by Kagetsu's spell. She abused the loophole by using Nesa Mikoto's Blood Fever as well as the Godslayer-caused Cataclysm as a catalyst to give birth to Nyanna Mikoto, who she claimed was the first true Andain child born since the Explosion. Whether or not Nyanna is actually a true Andain with Andain-like powers remains unknown although she has aged rapidly from an infant into a young girl and has shown some powers, mainly white magic, so much so that some consider her a threat to the balance of the world.
