Adlehyde was originally a kingdom famous for its engineers in the First Age. The kingdom turned into individual city-states after the disappearance of King Britton Leonhart.
History[]
The Kingdom of Adlehyde was a prosperous monarchy under the leadership of King Britton Leonhart who came from a long line of successful rulers. However, there also was a great dissatisfaction among the people, who wished for a change. Some atributed the peoples' restlessness with the coming of Mardük. Others credited it to the fact that Adlehyde had remained under the same ruling family for over a thousand years.
The tension finally snapped soon after the Chaos War had ended, and a rebellion formed under the leadership of a large number of greedy and manipulative magistrates. The rebellion was dealt with by the king, his trusted friend Daventhalas de Mont Hault, and a few allies. The Allied's combined forces proved more then a match for the rebel forces, and the rogue magistrates were swiftly dealt with.
All seemed to be going well with Adlehyde when disaster struck: King Leonhart had disappeared. The kingdom was left without a leader. There were too few rebels left to try to take control, and the King had not left an heir, so Daventhalas stepped in. He had the might of the Engineer's Guild backing him and proclaimed that he would protect all of Adlehyde until a proper ruler could be established. To his surprise, the people chose him. Daven uncomfortably accepted, but was left wondering: "How the hell can I rule this place? I'm an anarchist!"
The Citystates of Adlehyde became an economic country. They remained politically neutral with all other kingdoms, making alliances strictly for trading purposes. The people seemed to be content with importing and exporting goods instead of paying taxes to support a monarch, and their armies were funded directly from the profits made by their international businesses. Adlehyde also enjoyed one of the highest technology levels of the world thanks to the hard work of the Engineer's Guild.
Legacy[]
Adlehyde was ruined in the First Banishment and became Augustia when a knight named Galahad Augustia managed to unite the survivors and formed a new nation which he named Augustia after himself.
